JET AND LOGAN SHINE AT SHELBOURNE

JET AND LOGAN SHINE AT SHELBOURNE

Ian Fortune

Brayview Jet and Rathfalla Logan both did what was necessary at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night, picking up the two feature races with determined displays.

Brayview Jet was first up in the final of the RCETS A4 525, taking charge as they hit the back straight to score for Gerry Merriman and owners, the Brayview Lads Syndicate. The son of Jaytee Jet and Highview Novel was prominent to the corner, just behind Frugal Frank.

As they hit the second bend, Brayview Jet made his move on the outside of the early pace-setter. It was to prove a decisive maneouvre. Moving clear to halfway, he quickly put the result beyond doubt. Mikeys Princess did finish fast to take second spot but Brayview Jet emerged a comfortable three length winner in 29.03.

LOGAN FINISHES WITH PURPOSE

The final of the Time Greyhound Nutrition A3 575 was a far more competitive affair with virtually every dog in the line-up getting involved through the contest.

Ballycairn Flash played a huge part in the contest, making a fast start from four to lead into the turn.

Carrickfergus went up fast to challenge but the pair bumped, allowing Ballycairn Flash to continue out front. Sporting Yankie then arrived on the scene to challenge into the third turn alongside Carrickfergus but again Ballycairn Flash repelled her rivals.

It was off the final turn when Rathfalla Logan began to look a serious threat. After coming from off the pace to win his semi-final, George Roche’s son of Skywalker Logan and Devilsbit Storm was clearly a big threat. Powering home, Rathfalla Logan hit the front on the run in to beat Carrickfergus and Sporting Yankie by a half-length and a half-length in 31.93.
