BOSS AND COSS TAKE THE SPOILS AT SHELBOURNE

Ian Fortune

Ballymac Deboss and Coss Summer were the toast of Shelbourne Park on Friday night as the captured the two valuable prizes on offer.

Ballymac Deboss continued his rapid improvement to run out a ready winner of the €2,000 RCETS A3 525 for David Murtagh, Robert O’Neill and trained Ian Reilly. Making the best start of his short career, the son of Ballymac Cashout and Jaytee Pearl was soon in charge and seemed certain to record a comfortable success.

Puckane Story had other ideas. Getting a clear run along the fence, the powerful tracker got after Ballymac Deboss from the third turn but the pace-setter had no intention of letting his advantage slip. Staying on well, forcing his rival to check sides off the final turn, Ballymac Deboss hit the line half a length in front in 28.77.

SUMMER SHINES

Coss Summer won the final of the Barking Buzz A2 Dual Distance in similar fashion, showing superior early speed to her rivals on the long run to the bend over the 575yd trip.

In doing so, the daughter of Ballymac Best and Luck Lady avoided opening bend traffic to allow her stretch on by almost five lengths by the time they entered the back straight.

Knocknadoguebale gave chase but she was to get mowed down by the likes of Urban Delight and Pharis Jerry. Coss Summer stayed on well to hand Paula Coss a fine double on the night which had earlier been initiated by Coss Holly in the opener. Coss Summer went on to score by three lengths from Pharis Jerry in 31.71.
