ANNADOWN PANTHER IS A FUTURE STAR

ANNADOWN PANTHER IS A FUTURE STAR

Peter Farrell

There was an eleven race card on offer at Galway Greyhound Stadium on Friday night and the performance of the night came from Annadown Panther, who produced a quite brilliant debut performance.

Jointly owned by Gerry Dillon and Seamus Leahy, Annadown Panther came into his novice contest in race three with two workmanlike trials, however, he stepped up in emphatic style on to run to a virtual solo for connections. Only an August 22’ whelp, the son of Droopys Sydney and Annadown Sky, who is a massive 85-pounder, made his intentions clear from the outset with a slick exit from trap one. Railing tightly, the 4/6 favourite quickly created daylight over his rivals as he never broke stride to open a healthy five length lead heading into the back. Drawing clear thereafter, this was a thoroughly impressive performance from this August whelp as he crossed the line eight and a half lengths clear of Thats My Honey in second. The time was a fantastic 28.86 .10s. Given his age and size, expect to hear plenty about this tracker in the weeks and months ahead.
