Feel The Speed As Red Bull Drift Pursuit To Take Place At Limerick Greyhound Stadium

Rev up Your Engines: Red Bull Drift Pursuit Hits Limerick Greyhound Stadium For A Weekend Of Thrills!

Limerick Greyhound Stadium and Greyhound Racing Ireland (GRI) are proud to join forces with Red Bull to host their highly anticipated Drift Pursuit competition at the Treaty track.

Marking its inaugural year, the event will take place over two days, May 18th and 19th, and will see drivers go head-to-head in qualifiers which will test their speed, accuracy and control. This is no ordinary drift event.

The competition will see some of Europe’s top drift drivers battle it out with their abilities pushed to the absolute limit. They will be judged on three distinct criteria, course time, course clip points and penalties. Qualification will take place on Saturday, with the finals on Sunday.

Each heat will feature two cars competing simultaneously, adding an extra layer of excitement and suspense to the already thrilling event.

Day two will see the drivers who made it through the first day compete in a knockout round, with only one being crowned the first ever Red Bull Drift Pursuit champion!

Tickets for the event can be purchased here and all of your questions re car parking and tickets etc, can be answered here.

Breakdown:

Saturday: The entire field of 24 drivers will compete in 1v1 battles based on their pre-qualification times. The field will be whittled down to 16 drivers for the second round, down to 8 drivers for the semi-final, and then the final will see four drivers fight for the top spot.

Sunday: The concluding positions from Saturday will determine the order of competition for Sunday’s event which will run out in the same structure as Saturday starting with 24 drivers, then to 16 drivers, down to 8 for the semi-final and the final 4 for the ultimate grand finale.

Limerick Greyhound Stadium:

The iconic landmark Limerick Greyhound Stadium will be open for spectators of the event with hot food and beverages on offer. There will be no greyhound racing on the night. But don’t worry, the calendar will resume to normal hours the following week with racing action at the southern track every Saturday and one Friday every month, as well as an SIS meeting every Thursday. Whether it’s a burger and beer, a sit down 3-course meal or a family celebration, we can facilitate all your needs at any of our greyhound stadia.

Sarah Kinsella, spokesperson for Greyhound Racing Ireland, said: “We are excited to be teaming up with Red Bull for their adrenaline-fueled Drift Pursuit at Limerick Greyhound Stadium. We are proud to be associated with such a well-known brand and it proves that our greyhound stadia can be used for all types of events. Our greyhounds are not the only thing that will be setting pulses racing as the Red Bull Drift Pursuit is certain to be a great spectacle.”
