As part of the Irish Greyhound Board’s continued effort to promote sponsorship and syndication ownership within Irish greyhound racing, the IGB has sought expressions of interest from all active trainers for the new syndication programme. The response from trainers has been very positive to date and the IGB is grateful to those trainers who have expressed an interest in the scheme.

As part of the new programme, all new potential owners will be educated on the care of the racing greyhound to ensure that they are aware of their responsibility of helping to find a ‘forever home’ for their racer upon retirement.

The IGB wishes to make it clear that the syndicate or agent acting on its behalf will have the primary responsibility for the rehoming of the greyhound after its racing career has ended. The trainer of the greyhound will help in facilitating this rehoming process.

The syndication programme is an opportunity for various areas of the greyhound industry to work together in a collaborative manner to ensure the pathway to beginning a syndicate and becoming a greyhound owner is a smooth one. Guidelines are in place to help enhance the experience of ownership for new people coming into the greyhound industry and to encourage further participation in greyhound ownership.

The closing date for expressions of interest to be submitted to the programme is Friday, 27th September.
