After posting a track record on debut, Droopys Curio was the star of the opening round of the Brownstown Tango/ NTSC Open Unraced Bitch 525 last weekend but Friday’s second round was all about Unlock Unlock as she gave Droopys Curio a start before displaying immense pace to collar the favourite in the final stride.

This was a special performance from Brendan Matthews’ daughter of Droopys Sydney and Toms Delight. Droopys Curio soon found herself in front and she ran a great turn to move three and a half lengths clear of the pursuing Doolin Princess as they entered the back straight.

Unlock Unlock was a further length and a half adrift in third but she soon started to move through the gears. Passing halfway, Unlock Unlock remained in third but she was moving with real fluency and by the third turn she had gone second and was closing on the leader.

Droopys Curio remained three lengths clear but with each stride Unlock Unlock got a little closer. Storming up the straight, Unlock Unlock headed Droopys Curio in the very last stride to record a short head victory in a brilliant 28.15. It’s pretty clear both the winner and the runner-up are destined for the very top. There was an almost ten length gap to Doolin Princess in third.

Diva Deborah was also a most impressive winner when coming home clear in the second heat for George Farrell. The daughter of Droopys Sydney and Caragh Kayla caught the eye finishing fast in her opening round defeat but on this occasion she hit the front on the turn before pulling right away to beat the hot favourite Gentle Trend by five lengths in 28.49.

The final heat went to Slippery Diva. Larry Dunne’s daughter of Kisses For Cloda and Royal Diva was one of four battling it out for the early lead but she ran a tremendous bend to shoot clear. By halfway she had the victory in the bag and she proceeded to cruise home five and a half lengths clear of Listen Linda in 28.69.
