Essential upgrade works on the Irish Greyhound Board’s premier racing track, Shelbourne Park in Dublin, have been taking place since the beginning of this month and continue to progress.
The works involve the removal of the existing terram (sand) layer from sections of the track to be replaced with a new layer, along with irrigation and drainage works. A new soakaway area is being constructed, as well as hose connections for both new and existing sections of the sprinkler system.
As a result of the new works, some electric cables will be buried beneath the track’s surface once the upgrading works are completed.
The new sprinkler system has been put in place and is working to an acceptable standard.
The works remain ongoing and are intended to be finished by the end of January.
Racing continues to go ahead at the track every Friday and Saturday evening.
