TIGER REEF CLAIMS FIRST DERBY BONUS

TIGER REEF CLAIMS FIRST DERBY BONUS

Ian Fortune

After finishing third to Slippy Cian in the second round, securing a place in the final 48 of the Derby, Tiger Reef earned Rebecca Goff a €2,000 bonus for being the last remaining trial stake winner left in the competition.

It was the first of the Derby bonuses to be won, but there is a strong chance a second will be claimed on Saturday with only two owned-trained greyhounds remaining. The stipulation is that the owner cannot hold a trainer’s license which means that just Lolos Bear for Ronnie Craven, or Monbeg Bakayoko for Eamon Doyle can win the €2,000 prize.

As you’d expect, both face tough assignments on Saturday and were both to fail to progress the prize would be shared.

The largest bonus up for grabs is the €3,000 on offer for the top bitch. Of course, Killmacdonagh is favourite to capture that prize but Droopys Hunch, Sliabh Liag and Jaytee Spirit also remain in in the hunt.

The most competitive of the categories is for the top syndicate owned dog. There are six very talented greyhounds in that race. They are Slippy Cian, Scooby Doo It, Music Toour Ears, Cash Is King, Lenson Bocko and Magical Bale.
