The sale auctions at Thurles Park has a knack of throwing up bargain buys from time to time and this was certainly the case regarding the June 25th sale.
On Saturday past, the final of the ‘Borna Kennels A4/A5’ took place at Thurles Park and after a very exciting race throughout, the judge was called into action with nothing separating Sporting Moll and Toems Crossroads over the line. In the end, a dead heat was announced in a smart time of 29.16 with connections of both greyhounds deservedly taking home a share of the €1810 combined prize for first and second.
It is worth noting that at the June 25th sale, Sporting Moll was purchased for a bargain price of €450 by trainer John Byrne while Toems Crossroads went unsold at €1,400. Fast-forward two months later and the pair land a well contested twenty-four dog stake, providing further proof that you can still pick up a bargain at the sales!
