SULLY BOLTS HOME AT GALWAY AS MALORY CLAIMS THE HONEY

SULLY BOLTS HOME AT GALWAY AS MALORY CLAIMS THE HONEY

Peter Farrell

There was a double header of finals at Galway last night and available to view via the Barking Buzz app, it was well worth tuning in for as Springwell Sully and Bumblebee Malory landed the spoils for their respective connections.

The feature final was the ‘Bull Run Bolt @ Stud A4 525’ and the outsider of the field, Springwell Sully ran away with this €1,100 decider. A 7/2 chance, ‘Sully’ was only moderately into stride as Dunmahon Jet flew out of trap five to lead into the opening corner with Cozzys Gem a close second. Springwell Sully made his own room at the opening corner as he barged his way into third to give himself the racing room to chase the leading duo upon entrance to the back straight. Congestion upfront played right into the paws of Springwell Sully as he went about his business in expert style, pulling clear around the penultimate corner and well on his way to victory. From here, the son of ‘Superior Product - Springwell Dotsy’ stayed on strongly to record a fifth career win and record a five length victory. The time was 29.33 and many Thanks are extended to John Ronan for the sponsorship of the event.

MALORY IS A PROSPECT

The second of the two finals down for decision was the final of the ‘Bumblebee Kyne Enjoying Retirement 525’ and the prize pot stayed at home as Paddy & Paul Burke accounted for a one-two.

Chasing a five-timer, Bumblebee Malory went off the 7/4 favourite after a string of impressive displays and he was, as expected, quickly into stride wearing the stripes to challenge for the lead with litter sister, Bumblebee Love. The two comrades entered the first bend in tandem but it was ‘Malory’ who took control upon entrance to the back straight with some eye-catching pace. From here, the Burke’s were in total control of this €900 decider and the son of ‘Ballymac Vic - Bumblebee Rosie’ stayed on strongly to record a two and three parts of a length victory, in a time of 29.08. Bumblebee Rosie chased hard to finish second with Wilbrook Freeway claiming third but it was all about ‘Malory’ who now boasts a record of five wins from six starts and this September 18’ whelp looks a very useful hound indeed. Many Thanks are extended to Paddy Burke for the sponsorship of this event.

SOUTHWOOD JETS HOME

Elsewhere on the card, there was an A2 550 down for decision and Southwood Jet made light work of the opposition with a comfortable victory for trainer, Rachel Wheeler.

Owned by Jonathan O’Grady, Southwood Jet trapped well from a perfect pitch in one to scrape the paintwork at the opening corner and proceed to outpace his rivals down the back straight. Never under threat, ‘Jet’ stayed on strong up towards the line and the impressive blue accounted for a three length victory. The time was a very fast 29.99 for the 550 yard trip.
