SIS RACING - UPDATED COVID-19 PROTOCOL

SIS RACING - UPDATED COVID-19 PROTOCOL

Mandy Lucas

We are pleased to announce that from Monday 29th June Irish Greyhound Racing will make a welcome return to the SIS Greyhound Service with racing from 7 tracks (Cork, Kilkenny, Limerick, Mullingar, Tralee, Waterford, and Youghal) bolstering the number of races back to the level pre-lockdown.

The early morning meetings, which made history in 2019 when launched, will also return meaning greyhound fans will be able to enjoy exciting action from 8am .

Gordon Bissett, Greyhound Operations Manager at SIS, said “Having Irish greyhound racing return to the service is also very exciting and will help provide our operator customers with competitive racing action 14 hours a day, offering over 33,500 races each year.”

The programme will be beamed into betting shops and online platforms  throughout the world giving Irish Greyhounds the opportunity to showcase our product to a global audience.

This opportunity brings with it a number of challenges in these Covid-19 times especially around the aesthetics of parading the greyhounds prior to a race as we can’t share the parade coats we used before the restrictions came into place.

Therefore, I would ask that anyone parading a greyhound for an SIS event wears a black top and black trousers/bottoms to ensure uniformity and highlight the professional approach we adopt for this live event.

Thank you in anticipation of your cooperation  and your assistance is much appreciated.
