Greyhound racing lost a great friend over the weekend following the passing of Jerome Keane at the great age of 96.
Jerome was heavily involved in greyhounds for much of his life. Indeed, as far back as 1965 he was involved in the training of the Coursing Oaks winner, The Limit.
He was also lucky enough to handle some exceptional trackers in his time including Ask Clare. He guided the son of Ardfert Sean to finish second to his litter brother Ardfert Mick in the 1991 Irish Derby decider. Jerome also owned the former National record holder for 550yds, Ardfert Billy, before selling him on to the Cliffords.
We send on our sincerest condolences to Jerome’s surviving family, his daughter Majella, son Larry, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his extended family and his many friends.
May he Rest In Peace.
