EVENTS IN KILKENNY & KILCOHAN PARK GREYHOUND STADIUM GET A €90,000 BOOST.

Two of Ireland’s greyhound stadia received a welcome boost this week with the confirmation that Jag Building Services have committed to a 3 year sponsorship agreement for both venues.

The agreement includes both The Kilkenny Derby at Kilkenny Greyhound Stadium & The Munster Oaks at Kilcohan Park Greyhound, which will now offer a combined prize-fund of over €90,000s spread over the next 3 years.

The exciting programme of racing will see top greyhounds from across the country compete for an increased first place prize of €10,000 for the Kilkenny Derby and €5,000 for the Munster Oaks.  Gavin O’Mahoney of Jag Building services has decided to commemorate his good friend Dave Collins, who passed away earlier this year and the title of the Munster Oaks will be named in his honour.

Speaking at the announcement IGB CEO Gerard Dollard said, “We want to commend Gavin & Elaine O’Mahoney and their company Jag Building Services in demonstrating their support for the Irish greyhound industry.  At a time that is challenging for businesses both big and small, this investment is even more welcome by the greyhound community.  Both events will provide the perfect platform to promote our sport.”

Tom Kinane, Racing Manager at Kilkenny Greyhound Stadium said, “We are delighted to add Jag Building Services to our sponsors and grateful for their investment in our racing programme for the next 3 years.  Not only do they come on board at a difficult time for businesses across Ireland, but the additional investment now sees the first place prize money for the Kilkenny Derby increased to an impressive €10,000.”

Gavin O’Mahoney said, “It was always my aim to give-back to the Irish greyhound community and what better time than at the moment when the sponsorship landscape is so challenging.  We are proud that we are in a position to support these two events and look forward to the excitement of both competitions. We decided to honour our good friend Dave Collins, who passed away too young this year and name Munster Oaks after him. He had a great passion for greyhounds. His enthusiasm for racing was infectious and he was a true supporter of all tracks both in the UK & Ireland. He was a true friend that will be sadly missed.”

The Dave Collins Memorial Munster Oaks at Kilcohan Park Greyhound Stadium will commence on the 29th August with the final on the 12th September.

The Jag Building Services Kilkenny Derby commences on September 4th with the final hosted on the 25th September.
