JACKO A BRIGHT PROSPECT FOR DOOLEY

JACKO A BRIGHT PROSPECT FOR DOOLEY

Michael Fortune

Bagenalstown handler Sean Dooley was a proud man at Kilkenny on Friday night when his youngster Town Jacko was the fastest winner of the night on a programme which included the high profile heats of the Droopys Stud Derby A1.

Contesting the first contest, an A4 on the St Lachtains GAA fundraiser, Town Jacko gained his first career success in some style when moving well to the corner to take the lead and he then stretched right away for a six and a half lengths margin over Hello Fred in 28.91.

It was his fourth ever run having shown promise in his previous races though losing his chances at the traps. This time he showed the experience of those earlier runs and produced a clock which was two spots faster than the second best of the night, 28.93 from the open racer Droopys Neymar in a heat of the Derby.

Town Jacko is a member of a litter by Skywalker Puma ex La Linea. Jacko is the seventh member of a litter bred by Geoff and Eileen Bateman to gain winning brackets. Word from the Carlow area is that Town Jacko will soon be racing under a different name!
