Most greyhound enthusiasts will be familiar with the exploits of the top tracker ‘Cash is King’. This dog burst onto the scene winning his first three races and later that year claimed the ‘Larry O’Rourke Produce stakes’ final at Clonmel.
The dam of this fella is the Brian Maunsell owned, ‘Fire Height Brid’. If you look back in this bitch’s pedigree a familiar name stands out in the form of super brood ‘Ballymac Minnie’. ‘Minnie’ has produced many a top greyhound over the years such as ‘ Ballymac Bull’, ‘Ballymac Penske’ and ‘Green Heat’ to name a few. Another to come through the ranks was ‘Fire Height Jane’ who in turn went on to produce ‘Brid’.
‘Cash is King’ emerged from ‘Brid’s’ first litter to ‘Tyrur Big Mike’ and last night we saw the appearance of another potential superstar in the form of ‘Cooladerry Maura’.
Trained by Sean Meany, at only 16 months old, ‘Maura’ produced a flawless display on route to a sixteen length victory over her rivals in a fine 29.02 last night in Clonmel. Given her pedigree and the fact this was only her second ever race, it is expected that the daughter of top sire ‘Head Bound’ could be a name on everyone's lips as we approach 2019. Watch this space!
