Monday’s action at Enniscorthy was very much highlighted by the debut of Piercestown Ask for Seamus ‘Shanks’ Whelan.

Kicking off proceedings in style, the October ’18 son of Ballymac Eske and Piercestown Moll posted a fastest of the night 29.06 (estimated 28.76) on his way to a facile victory.

Breaking smartly, Piercestown Ash disputed the lead into the turn and led the field down the back straight by a couple of lengths but it wasn’t until near the third turn that he really started to put daylight between himself and his rivals. Powering up the straight, the promising youngster hit the line sixteen lengths to the good. Keep an eye on this youngster as he could be filed in the ‘could be anything’ category’.
