A ROYAL GREYHOUND MENTION ON MORNING IRELAND

IGB

Back in 1990, Druids Johno qualified for the English Greyhound Derby Final winning from Trap 6 in the Semi-Finals. Micheal O’Muircheartaigh was on hand to interview  one of the owners, a member of the Royal Family.

Prince Edward was co-owner of the dog with Irishman Patsy Byrne. Listen back to the clip below to hear what Prince Edward had to say and what happened when the Royal Family met Irish sporting royalty.

Slippy Blue of course went on to win the Final that year so it wasn't to be a Royal winner that year.  Back in 1968, Prince Edward's father Prince Philip did go one better when his greyhound won.
